A few words about

What We Do

Our projects

Our association is involved in key programmes advancing the rights and welfare of women and children across Ghana.

We believe every woman has the right to know her legal rights, every child deserves protection, and every voice that has been silenced must be heard. From courtrooms to communities, our work spans legal representation, rights advocacy, community sensitization, and legislative reform.

Legal Advocacy
Legal representation and counsel to safeguard the rights of women in Ghana.

We provide legal representation and professional counsel to women who face complex legal challenges — from domestic disputes and inheritance cases to sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination. Our members are committed to pursuing justice with unwavering dedication, ensuring no woman faces the law alone.

Community Sensitization
Community sensitization programmes on gender-based violence across Ghana.

AWLA Ghana conducts open forums, radio programmes, and community outreach activities to educate women, families, and institutions about their legal rights, domestic violence laws, and proper channels for seeking justice. We have mobilized and sensitized thousands of community members across the Brong-Ahafo, Northern, and Greater Accra regions.

Child Rights
Local community advocacy for the rights and welfare of children across Ghana.

We are committed to advancing the values upheld by the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. Through awareness campaigns, community forums, and legal action, AWLA Ghana works to eliminate child abuse, sexual violence against girls, and all forms of exploitation — ensuring every child in Ghana grows up protected and with dignity.

Legislative Reform

AWLA Ghana actively lobbies for legislative reform — from supporting the Child Rights Act adoption to seeking the removal of impediments to women’s property rights during and after marriage. We engage government, civil society, and international bodies to ensure laws protecting women and children are enacted, enforced, and upheld.
